Despite a number of local Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events selling out in record time registration does remain open for some Australian Ironman 70.3 races, organised by X-Tri Events, including the Capricorn Resort Ironman 70.3 Yeppoon and Ironman 70.3 Canberra and each race has valuable qualifying slots to the Ironman World Championships 70.3 at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada USA in 2012.
The Capricorn Resort Ironman 70.3 Yeppoon will take place on August 14 in central Queensland, Australia on the famed Capricorn Coast within the sensational 22,000 hectare Capricorn Resort.
A unique 1.9km straight line swim will take place at the Capricorn Resort Yeppoon beach (a beach that’s actually over 12 kms long!). Athletes will then head out on the 90km bike course through sub-tropical landscapes on local roads, before a 21 km run through trails and tracks in the hectare resort grounds that leads into a very special finish alongside the spectacular resort pools. Fantastic volunteers and sport aware supporters and spectators make this event very special.

Bracketing the seasons, for northern or southern hemisphere athletes, the Ironman 70.3 Canberra is set to take place on December 11, 2011 in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory.
This is the ultimate challenge for Ironman 70.3 in Australia takes place in the nation’s capital and commences with a one-lap 1.9km swim in the giant manmade Lake Burley Griffin (featuring the spectacular Captain Cook Fountain, before taking to CBD and country roads around the ACT (Australian Capital Territory).
The two lap run is based within the Canberra CBD parklands and brings athletes to a great finish line off Anzac Reach within Commonwealth Park after running past many of the iconic buildings and monuments of the capital all the while cheered on by very vocal volunteers and spectators.
